Overcoming Fear

I’ve finally returned to the podcast desk to overcome an ongoing fear…

Upon reflection, I’ve realised that in trying to be the best I can in the various roles in my life, eg. father, partner etc.  I’d been trying too hard to podcast just for the sake of recording something.

Well, to break the chains of fear and anxiety I’ve opted for a change of scope and to return to my roots and my reasons and vision for creating this podcast.  To inspire, to educate and lead others through sharing my story of how I came to be here, focusing on personal development and success.

I hope this drought-breaking episode brings a fresh light to the podcast.

Thanks for listening..

End of 2017 Reflection

Reflections from a big 2017.  Hope you had a great one, and that 2018 is amazing.

Shogunai – It can’t be helped

Hello Freedom Engineers!

I was back on the meditation cushion this morning after an early morning walk.  Turns out I’ve done over 160 sessions and 30hours of meditation since I started practising mindfulness (officially).  The message this morning was the Japanese word of Shogunai – which loosely translates to “it can’t be helped”.  It’s a reminder to practise acceptance in our lives, to remember that there are some things which we can’t control and it’s better to accept these for what is and move on with positive action.

I’m focusing on the next 2 months as a springboard for creating momentum for 2018 towards my goals and dreams.  Are you??  If you need some assistance or are looking for some simple action suggestions, send me an email dave(at)thefreedomengineer.com

Have a great day!

A bad day can just as easily be good

I had a bad day, where all things aligned such that I got all the red lights, spilt my coffee, had priority projects derail my best-laid plans.  But, and this is important… If all things can align for the worst, doesn’t it make sense that any other day, all things can align for the best?

It’s a matter of reflection and perspective and how you respond to the challenges that count.

Engineering a Premiership

Richmond’s Grand Final victory on the weekend, it’s 11th Premiership is a testament to the power of reflection and mindset change. To go from 13th to 1st following an analysis of where the club was and where it wanted to be in one short year is a credit to the power of positive thinking.

Don’t miss the chance to set a great foundation

Kudos to Jeremy Todd of The Positive Side podcast (check it out on itunes) who inspired me to make sure I never miss a Monday Morning Workout!! What great advice… what an opportunity to start the day right, the week right and get you moving in the right direction.

So true throughout our success journey.  Taking every opportunity to set a great foundation for success is key to building momentum and engineering more freedom!

Don’t wait for retirement

Hello Freedom Engineers….

I was at a morning tea for someone who was retiring yesterday….

When I reflected on what sort of a legacy you could leave in the world and how years of service boil down to a little morning tea and a card saying thanks for your time it gave me fresh motivation to continue the freedom engineering journey so that I don’t need to wait for retirement to do all the things I love to do….

Why wait?? why not take your chances now…. make your choices now…. go for your dreams now…..  it’s better to be young enough to enjoy all life has to offer, instead of hoping you’ll be able to when you reach ‘retirement age’….

Stand And Face Uncertainty

When you turn and face your fears, uncertainties and challenges instead of running away when they come after you… somehow, things work out better….

don’t forget to subscribe on itunes or android and leave a rating if you are enjoying the podcast! Thanks..

The Compound Effect

The Compound Effect is a concept that is based around the idea that incremental positive habits or steps will lead to other incremental positive habits.  In isolation they do not look like much but when put back to back and allowed to grow as a combined entity, the results can be astounding.

Try implementing positive habits into your life and watch what happens over the long term!

“The Compound Effect” – Darren Hardy is a great book to read!

Achievement and Recognition

When you are on a journey toward your goals and dreams, working hard, in your job or on yourself, it’s easy to forget to take the time to stop and reflect on how far you’ve come. Look at all you’ve achieved. Give recognition to those who have helped you along the way. Celebrate the milestones on the journey to greatness. Learn from experience and put it all together to move forward with confidence and positivity.
